Dealing with a nasty fever? This easy-to-make home remedy just might help!
Holy moly, guys! I am struggling with the most annoying cold/flu/thing right now. My nose is stuffy, my eyes are watery, and I have a fever that Tylenol alone isn’t always managing. Since I’m pregnant, I’m really limited in the medicine that I can take, but fever can be very bad for your baby, so I needed to kick this thing.
We know that apple cider vinegar is great for cooking and cleaning and that it even makes a great winter sports drink, but it turns out that a little ACV is good for a fever, too! And of course, you can’t go wrong by getting more fluids.
I have been using this drink recipe in conjunction with regular strength Tylenol, and the combo seems to be doing the trick much better than Tylenol alone! Not that this was a magic cure-all for my cold/flu/thing, but at least my fever is staying below 100!
Home Remedy: Apple Cider Vinegar Drink for Fever
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups cold water
- 2 teaspoons organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (ACV)
- liquid sweetener, to taste (optional)
Directions
- In a large glass, combine the water and ACV, giving it a stir, so the vinegar doesn’t settle to the bottom.
- Taste your drink, and if you feel like a little maple syrup or honey would make it more palatable, add it 1/4 teaspoon at a time until you have it tasting how you want.
You can drink this as often as you like! I’m aiming for 2-3 glasses per day.
I found that the diluted vinegar wasn’t strong enough to need sweetener, but I’m pregnant and craving vinegar these days, so you might not have the same experience.
Also! One word of caution: if you just brushed your teeth, this drink tastes TERRIBLE, but after a few sips it becomes drinkable again.
