Documentary Short Looks at Monsanto’s Hold on Hawaii

Monsanto and other biotech firms have used Hawai’i as a seed laboratory for decades. In fact, a majority of the GMO seed corn sold to farmers in the midwest comes from Hawai’i. As oil prices continue to rise and the cost of importing fresh food from 2500 miles away goes with it, Hawai’i is reconsidering the wisdom of plantation crops that don’t feed its people.

GMO Lawsuit Goes to Australian Supreme Court

Organic farmer Steve Marsh filed suit against his GM canola farmer neighbor last year after the neighbor’s crops contaminated his organic fields, causing him to lose certification over 70% of his farm. Now that suit is headed for the Supreme Court.

Organic Farmers Appeal in Case Against Monsanto

Family farmers have filed a Notice of Appeal challenging Judge Naomi Buchwald’s February 24th ruling dismissing Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association et al v. Monsanto. The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Manhattan will hear the farmers’ appeal, seeking to reinstate the case, which has received worldwide attention.
