Are you planning to grow some of your own food this year? If what’s standing between you and a vegetable garden is doubt, Mother Earth News just might have the solution. They just launched a Vegetable Garden Planner, and it looks amazing!
Confession time: I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but the mint plant out front took a turn for the horrible. The leaves and stems turned dark brown and brittle, and nothing new was happening. My friend Kip assured me that mint is hard to kill, and that sometimes it looks dead when really it isn’t. It was reassuring, but my plan was to reclaim that pot over this past weekend, while I was doing other fun things in the garden.
I headed out front on Sunday, and saw an amazing thing…
Over the weekend, my husband and I put together a custom raised bed for our garden. Yay! Here’s how you can build your own.
Saving seeds can help save you money and feel more connected to the food you eat and grow!
Holy moly, you guys! My seedlings are shooting up before my eyes! In less than a week, there are already babies sprouting up in my seed starting tray, and they’re growing like mad. Check out the progress in just two and a half days…
This time around, instead of buying plants, I decided to start my fall garden from seed!
Since I’ve never grown from seed before, I needed to figure out how to grow everything I planted. In case any of you picked up seeds similar to mine, I thought I’d share what I learned!
Our friends at Sustainablog reminded us not too long ago that it’s time to start planning that cool weather garden, so I’m making a list of what seeds I want to order and start as my container garden transitions out of summer. I thought it would be fun to talk garden planning and see what you guys are planting, too! If you’re working on a fall/winter garden, let us know what’s on the agenda in the poll below!
I’ve been talking over the last couple of weeks about how this little container garden situation has expanded into…well….a not-so-little situation. Here’s a little tour of my container garden, and I’d love to hear what you guys are growing!
The container garden experiment continues with a potted lemon tree!
Even more additions to this food growing experiment: more herbs and a lovely lemon tree!
The plants out front have been doing so well that we’ve expanded our food-growing adventures to the back! Here’s how you can build your very own spiral herb garden.
An update on my little container garden. What are you guys growing?
My little container garden is chugging along, and I think part of its success is that I feel accountable to you guys with these updates. I’d love to hear how your gardens are doing, too!
