After news that 15,000 Detroit households recently had their water shut off caught national attention, brazen animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has offered to turn it back on. There’s just one small caveat: Detroit residents need to adopt a vegan diet.
You’ve seen the ads on TV for all-you-can-eat shrimp buffets. Shrimp, once a special treat that you’d get once in a while on a summer seaside vacation, has turned into cheap fast-food like McDonald’s hamburgers. And like fast-food burgers, cheap shrimp is an ecological disaster.
Fish Aren’t Swimming Vegetables, & Inmates’ Religious Freedom Exists: Buddhist Inmate Seeks Vegetarian Diet
Last week a vegetarian Buddhist inmate appealed to PETA for help: contrary to both observable reality and his religious beliefs, prison officials claim that fish flesh is appropriate for vegetarian meals. The Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Institution in Uncasville, CT apparently disregards inmate Howard Cosby’s right to religious expression, insisting that deceased aquatic creatures don’t count as ‘meat.’

Now, a PETA search turns up some pretty damning stuff.
This is something I ran across awhile back and then ran across again and have wanted to cover for awhile but have put off — a pie chart on what would happen if the whole world became vegan. It’s pretty simple, but definitely fun and worth a quick look and share.
This video, narrated by Kate Winslet, sheds light on the horrific lives of ducks and geese raised for foie gras.
In vitro meat is a laboratory-made animal product that has never been part of a complete, living animal. Could this cruelty-free, eco-friendly meat be the solution to our global obsession with cheap meat?
Scientists in the Netherlands recently announced that they have grown meat in a laboratory for the first time. Though no one has yet to taste this laboratory meat, there is speculation that it could be commercially viable, and on your dinner table within the next five years. The process of creating artificial meat started with […]
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words but, of course, I’m not going to dedicate 1000 words or even 500 to this picture. My green friend and I spotted this billboard in a not exactly obvious place in the Soma district of San Francisco but we figured that PETA didn’t have or […]
