Doesn’t it seem like every foodie website is saying we’ll all be eating insects soon enough? I’m here to tell you that you do not have to eat bugs. Ever.
It only took a little more than a month for Big Food’s front group, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, to file a lawsuit against the state of Vermont over its recently passed GMO labeling law.
Long-time vegans would say it’s about time. And the wait is almost over for a store that only sells vegan food. That’s right. A vegan supermarket is coming to the U.S. But not until 2016.
Yelp, the popular restaurant review (and other services) website, may be helpful in more ways than just showing you where to grab a delicious dinner. “Straight from the Earth: Irresistible Vegan Recipes for Everyone” is a mouthwatering cookbook created by mother and daughter: Myra Goodman and Marea Goodman (Chronicle Books, March 4). You may recognize them from Earthbound Farms; Myra is the co-founder of the mega-produce company. The Goodman’s love for yummy organic and convenient vegetables doesn’t just stop with delivering fresh produce to grocery stores across the country. As they show in this perfect summery sauté recipe, they take their cooking just as seriously, too.
Eat Drink Better’s own Becky Striepe has launched a fantastically cool tool for vegans: it’s a custom Google search tool she’s dubbed “The Great Vegan Search Engine.” We were all pretty impressed and thought you might want to check it out too. I got the deets from Becky on the project. Here’s how you can benefit, too.
The simple and delicious Turkish red lentil-bulgur wheat mercimek kofte dish is the inspiration behind this veggie burger recipe. Here, I substitute farro for the bulgur and bake the patties so they take on more of a veggie burger feel.
Just as the White House has released its massive climate change report, a new study out of Harvard’s School of Public Health finds that rising global temperatures are also going to make our food less nutritious.
Dr. Cow makes the finest, grandest, most addictive vegan cheese on Earth. And now the company has opened a flagship store in the BK.
