If you’ve ever wanted to be the first to know about a food recall in your state, now’s your chance. The USDA is announcing food recalls by state over Twitter.
In addition to their main food recall Twitter handle – @USDAFoodSafety – the USDA is further breaking down the information by state. State handles start with the two-letter postal code abbreviation, followed by _FSISAlert. For example, USDA food recalls affecting California are under @CA_FSISAlert. U.S. territories also have individual Twitter feeds.
For a full list of state by state food recall Twitter handles, check the USDA page (scroll down to the bottom).
The FDA also has a Twitter account ( @FDArecalls ), but they haven’t broken it down by state yet.
