So, what can we do to avoid processed and genetically modified foods? Here are a few options, just to get you started!
- Cook more. Pre-made and restaurant food tends to be heavier in fat, salt, and calories than food you’d prepare in your own kitchen.
- Cook from scratch. I know, convenience foods are easy, but cooking from scratch is the best way to know exactly what’s on your plate.
- Buy organic. By definition, organic food can’t be genetically modified, so go organic when you can.
- Eat vegan. You don’t have to totally go vegan to incorporate vegan meals into your diet. Eating fewer animal products is one of the easiest ways to avoid the health problems associated with meat and dairy consumption. Even a few vegan meals each week can have a positive impact on your health.
