Several lots of organic baby spinach have been recalled after salmonella was found in a random test by the USDA. So far, no illnesses have been reported in conjunction with this recall.
The spinach was produced by Taylor Farms Retail under the brand names Private Selections (Kroger store brand) and Marketside (Walmart store brand).
The organic baby spinach was shipped to stores on May 9 and 10, 2012 with a Best By date of May 25. States affected are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
The Private Selections organic baby spinach under recall has the UPC number 0-11110-91128-5 and package codes TFRS 130B 1503 KT34 and TFRS 130B 1803 KT34. The Marketside organic baby spinach has the UPC number 6-8113132900-2 and package code TFRS130B16.
Customers who have purchased these products should return them to the retailer for a refund or dispose of them where no one will eat them.
