Trying to eat a healthy diet but not sure what to eat between breakfast and dinner? Don’t make the mistake of skipping lunch or breaking down and picking up fast food, try some of these simple tips to make lunch work for you instead!
1. Don’t Skip Breakfast
You’ll be in better shape to make healthy lunch choices if you’re not famished from skipping breakfast.
Breakfast isn’t called the most important meal of the day for no reason- skipping it would only make you feel tired, weak and lead to overeating later in the day. Why starve yourself and slow down your metabolism? Stick with a healthy low calorie breakfast of fruit, oatmeal or a boiled egg.
2. Bring Your Own Lunch
Instead of wasting your money dining out on unhealthy eats, spend your lunch eating something healthy you’ve brought from home. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated or embarrassing, just stick with a salad and some nutritious snacks to get you through your day.
Ideally, you can pack snacks like nuts and fruit for around 10:30am and 3pm to curb your appetite and prevent binge eating as well as to maintain your metabolism.
3. Say No to Cake
At some offices it might seem like every day is someone’s birthday or retirement party. Just because there’s cake doesn’t mean you have to partake. Use this time to have a cup of coffee or tea, or if you are really have trouble resisting the urge organize your day so you’re taking your lunch break around the time cake is served.
4. Stay Hydrated
Drinking water and tea all day will keep you feeling energized and make you feel full, not to mention help maintain your body temperature and help with digestion. For those that are trying to lose weight: You can burn almost 100 calories just by drinking 2L of cold water a day!
