Author Heli Perrett, PhD, a microbiologist and public health expert, recently published The Safe Food Handbook. The handbook is a guide to finding safe, healthy food. Here’s a summary from the publisher:
Dr. Perrett has created a comprehensive guide that speaks not only to pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and others to whom food safety is of greatest concern, but to anyone—vegan, confirmed meat-eater, or somewhere in between—who wants to feed themselves and their loved ones more safely. From apples and alfalfa to chicken and cheese, The Safe Food Handbook, gives a balanced and comprehensive look at which food risks we should worry about, which age-old precautions are now outdated, and how consumers can proactively protect themselves.
