I. Love. Tea! When the folks at Mountain Rose Herbs offered to let me try out their new line of organic teas in sustainable packaging, I leaped at the chance. When they offered up an additional set of teas for one lucky Eat Drink Better Reader, I was even more thrilled! Read on for a review of their new tea line and deets on how to enter the giveaway.
Honestly, until they emailed me about their teas, I had always thought of Mountain Rose Herbs as a source for essential oils and body care, so I was excited to learn that they sell teas and spices, as well. They’re a great company dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint while creating quality products that are good for the planet and healthy for people.
They sent me the same three teas for review that are up for grabs in the giveaway:
- Oregon Chai
- Mint
- Vanilla Rooibos
Not only are the teas organic, but the box they come in is made from 100 percent post-consumer cardboard whitened without any chlorine or bleach. It’s fully biodegradable, which means you can cut it up and stick it right into your compost bin when the tea is done.
My box of teas also included a super awesome Celestial Tea Strainer, since they are all loose tea. I’m not sure whether the strainer will come with the prize pack, but I’m loving mine! The mug in the photo doesn’t come with the pack. It’s just my favorite vintage Pyrex mug. :)
Mint Tea
I’m not always super into mint tea. So often, I find them bitter and need lots of sweetener to make them taste good, but I really liked this one! It was minty but mellow without too much bitterness. This mint tea is a blend, and it includes peppermint and spearmint. I tried this hot and iced, and it was lovely either way.

Chai Tea
Chai is my favorite kind of tea, hands down. I’ve tried tons of different chai varieties, and this one stacks up with the best of them. With whole cardamom pods and plenty of ginger and clove, this tea was spicy and delicious. I have been drinking it almost every day with a little almond milk and maple syrup.
Vanilla Rooibos
I was hesitant to try the vanilla rooibos at first, since I’m pregnant and not all teas are safe when you’re pregnant. A little research revealed that rooibos tea is actually great to drink during pregnancy! It’s full of vitamins and micronutrients that your baby needs, and it’s naturally caffeine free.
This was my first time drinking rooibos, and it was great! The tea has a mild, earthy flavor, and the vanilla gives it a natural sweetness, so unless you like your tea pretty sweet, you probably won’t need to add any sweetener.
