I’ve become quite attached to online shopping, especially when there’s food involved. From salts and seasonings to grow-your-own-mushroom kits, you can find unique, artisanal, regional foods that someone will deliver straight to your doorstep. So I was excited to find a new web site that can connect me with good food from all over the U.S. Meet my new friend Goldbely.
The funky kids at Goldbely are food finders who want you to experience the tastiest regional delights from every corner of America. From their web site:
At Goldbely, we are explorers of food! We are on a mission to discover all things delicious. On our journey, we’re seeking out the legendary local restaurants, amazing artisans and great gourmet food purveyors that produce amazing regional products. The care and craftsmanship that goes into the preparation of their specialty dishes brings us great inspiration. We’re in awe of the history and recipes that are often handed down through generations. It’s our passion to discover these treasures. We want to share these stories.
Ever wanted to try buffalo wings from the restaurant that created them first? Order 100 of the spicy wingettes from Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Craving Texas barbecue? A New England lobster roll? A Chicago deep dish pizza? They’ve got them all and more. What the heck is a knish? I don’t know, but I can have one delivered! And Godbely’s vision aligns with my priorities, so I can feel good about buying from them.
Our vision is an online marketplace that connects curious eaters with America’s best gourmet food purveyors. We are creating an alternative to the food conglomerates and big box retailers that control most of the food world today. By creating an even playing field, we hope to democratize the industry.
This makes me very, very happy. I can support small food producers by keeping my credit card hot and my belly full. I will continue to eat local on a regular basis, but when I’m looking for a unique gift or craving those original buffalo wings for a Super Bowl party, I know where to go.
Which regional signature food do you crave most? What would you order from Goldbely first?
