Confused About Which Produce Should Always Be Organic? There’s An App For That

I’m a relatively savvy Green Girl.ย  That said, there are still times when I can’t remember which produce should always be purchased organic (strawberries, peaches, nectarines, pears, apples, celery, sweet bell pepper, potatoes, spinach and lettuce) or which fish is more eco-friendly (Farmed Abalone, Pacific Halibut, Alaskan Wild Salmon, more).ย  When my (formerly) photographic brain fails me, my iPhone does not.

There’s an app for that.ย  Gorgeously Green Survival Guide 1.2 will run iPhone users a whopping $0.99 on iTunes and earns a five star rating in MacLife (and other Apple lover spheres). I cannot count the number of times I’ve spent staring at cosmetics, lotion and other “natural” products trying to ascertain what was really in that bottle. Now, I’ve a simple list to access which will remind me which chemicals to avoid. If I’m being mindful of recycling the packaging, there’s a list to help decode plastics.

Even if you don’t have time to read Sophie Uilan’s (Best Seller, mind you), Gorgeously Green, you do have time to tap tap into a handy list.ย  And don’t forget to add the blog to your google reader.

Don’t let the title dissuade you, this application is not just for girls.

That’s pretty cool indeed. Having the iPhone remember those tidbits of information will certainly help more RAM to be available in my brain to remember things like where I parked my car…

  2. Thanks so much for your support for organic. As an alternative to basing your organic purchases on pesticide residues, consider buying organic versions of the products you use most. Whether that is milk, produce, or personal care products, buying organic will not only help reduce your exposure to harmful synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, but also support a system of agricultural management that is great for the planet.
