Choice Organic Teas – A Review of Four New Varieties

TeaChoice Organic Teas has added four new varieties to their dozens. Choice offers a wide selection of organic, fair-trade certified teas.

Premium Korean Green Tea

Green tea and black tea come from the same plant, but green tea is the less-processed version. All teas have many health benefits, but green tea has been shown to have a little extra.

Choice’s new Korean green tea is grown on Jeju island in South Korea. It has a strong, but smooth flavor with no bitterness.

Decaffeinated Green Tea

For the antioxidants and health benefits of green tea without the caffeine, try this decaffeinated green tea. Grown in the mountains of India and decaffeinated using carbon dioxide, this tea is smooth and clean. The only ingredient is the organic green tea.

Masala Chai

One reason I love chai tea is the aroma that wafts through the house while it steeps. Another reason, of course, is the flavor. Whoever first decided to mix these spices with black tea was a genius.

The combination of organic, fair-trade certified Assam tea from India’s Brahmaputra River Valley mixed with organic chai spices makes the Masala Chai tea a lovely combination to relax with on a cool winter’s evening or to wake up with on a frosty winter morning.

Rooibos Chai

I had never tried rooibos before and this tea was a pleasant surprise. Rooibos is a legume grown in a small area of South Africa. It’s full of antioxidants, but not caffeine. Choice has mixed the organic, fair-trade certified rooibos with some organic chai spices and produced a warm, full-flavored herbal tea.

Chai is usually prepared with milk and sugar, but the rooibos chai tastes wonderful without any addition. The rooibos adds a slightly floral sweetness to the warm spices.

The four new teas are all organic, with fair-trade certified ingredients, non-gmo project certified, and kosher. The tea bags are made of unbleached, natural fiber with no staples in the bag, so they can be tossed on the compost. A box sells for $4.99 and contains 16 tea bags.
