Naked calories are calories that have had their micronutrients stripped in one way or another. On our six-year global research expedition to over 100 countries on all seven continents, we discovered that modern practices such as global food distribution, factory farming, and food processing are creating foods filled with Naked Calories – calories void of any real nutritional value.
The chronic consumption of these modern foods has led to the global pandemic of micronutrient deficiency. Micronutrient deficiency, or a lack of essential vitamins and minerals, is the most widespread and dangerous health condition of the 21st century. It is at the heart of many of today’s most common and life-threatening health conditions and diseases including heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity. While some people may choose to look at the looming micronutrient-deficiency pandemic as yet another depressing, overwhelming reality facing the global population, we would like everyone to see it for what it can be.
It just may be the best news of the century.
If we understand that suboptimal levels (a deficiency) of essential micronutrients is a causative factor in the majority of today’s lifestyle conditions and diseases, then optimal levels (a sufficiency) of these same vitamins and minerals would logically lead to the suppression or reversal of these same conditions and diseases. It is for this reason that we have written Naked Calories.
