RemedyTeas is recalling two of its teas – #137 Peppermint Organic Herbal Tea and #120 Tranquility Herbal Tea – due to a risk of salmonella contamination. This seems to be related to the recent tea recall by Teavana, since both companies source their peppermint teas from Aromatics, Inc. in Basin City, Washington.
RemedyTeas sells its teas online, by mail, and in stores. The tea is measured individually according to each order, so there is no batch number to identify the recalled tea.
#137 Peppermint Organic Herbal Tea sold between January 18, 2011 and March 4, 2011 and #120 Tranquility Herbal Tea sold between February 22, 2011 and March 4, 2011 can be returned to the stores where they were purchased for a full refund.
Customers may also call (206) 323-4832, Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-11 p.m. PST to speak to a RemedyTeas Customer Service representative for instructions on how to return the product.
No illness has been associated with either the RemedyTeas tea recall or the Teavana tea recall. The very hot water used to make tea reduces the risk of illness, but it does not remove it completely.
