Feeling guilty about craving ice cream? Eat this instead. It is uh-mazing.
If you are craving sweets, you don’t need to deviate from your healthy diet. The key is to sneak as much nutrition into your splurge as possible. The banana-walnut smoothie is a perfect way to do it.
You can even make the smoothie into ice cream with a quick adaptation.
Walnuts are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids – the fatty acids that may help lower bad cholesterol, improve brain function and reduce the risk of cancer.
Walnut banana smoothie
Ingredients:
- ripe banana, sliced, frozen
- 1/2 cup soy milk or cow’s milk
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1-2 tablespoons honey
Directions:
- Place banana, soy milk, walnuts, and 1 tablespoon honey in a blender.
- Blend on low speed until ingredients start to mix together. Then increase to high speed and blend until smooth. For a sweeter smoothie, add another tablespoon of honey.
Makes two servings.
Walnut banana ‘ice cream’
Simply freeze milk in ice cube trays before blending. Your blender may not be too happy afterward, but you will be. It is better than ice cream.
