6 DIY Food Gifts

You can scale these recipes up or down to make enough for one person or knock off half a dozen folks from your holiday list. How jolly is that?

  1. Truffles. Over at Vibrant Wellness Journal, Andrea shares a delicious recipe for making your own truffles with a few variations. Who wouldn’t love a decadent chocolate variety pack, right?
  2. Hot Cocoa Mix. Nothing says holidays like cocoa, and Angry Chicken has a great recipe for hot cocoa mix! Her recipe isn’t totally vegan, but it’s simple to veganize. Just choose vegan chocolate chips and vegan marshmallows instead of animal-based ones.
  3. Cookie Mix. Give the gift of baking! Layer up a yummy jar of vegan cookie mix.
  4. Curried Lentil Soup Mix. Not so sweet on sweets? This curried lentil soup mix is an awesome holiday gift. I gave it to friends and family a few years ago and still get requests for the recipe so they can make another batch!
  5. Peppermint Bark. There’s something magical about peppermint bark, and Veg Web has a super simple recipe for making your own.
  6. Homemade Granola. This maple-almond granola packed with cranberries tastes as festive as it looks. Whip up a batch for one or scale it up and shower everyone with yummy granola this Christmas!

Do you have any food gifts in the works this year? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments!

These are awesome! I’ve been on the hunt for finding chrsitmas gifts for friends, yet I am wanting something somewhat healthy and not sugar cookie style! ha These are perfect! Thanks so much for sharing, I am so glad I stumbled across these in time!!

  2. Mary Gerush

I definitely need last minute gift ideas this year! Last year, I made toffee, brittle, spiced pecans, and homemade dog treats for friends and families (and their doggie kids). This year, I don’t have time to do all that, and I’m bummed! It was so much fun – and I think more meaningful to my loved ones – that I took the time to do my homespun Christmas. I still have a week left. Perhaps I can still make something happen!

You can do it! That lentil soup mix came together pretty fast when I did it assembly line-style. Not counting the shopping trip to the market here that stocks different colors of lentils, it took one weekend afternoon to make about a dozen that year. Spiced pecans sounds so great! Do you still have that recipe?
