Food News Roundup, 12/12/12
Eat Drink Better is part of the Important Media Network (IM) – a group of blogs dedicated to talking about issues that are important. Those issues range from clean technology and green business to green crafts and sustainable food, and one thing I enjoy most about IM is seeing how our different sites overlap and cover similar topics through their different lenses.
Maybe it’s because the holidays are so food-focused, but this week on IM I’ve seen a ton of great food-related stories. Normally, I share these one-by-one, but this week I thought I’d have a little fun and round them all up in one place. A little food news buffet!
- Over at Ecolocalizer, Summer Bock shares some solid tips for healthier grocery shopping. My favorite tip is organizing your list by store section – what a huge time-saver!
- Jeff McIntire-Strasburg at Sustainablog tells the compelling story of Evan Hauptman’s Foreclosure Farm concept – turning abandoned lots in the suburbs into small farms.
- Over at Crafting a Green World, I’ve been working on a Handmade Holidays series, and this week’s gift idea is for mason jars filled with delicious cranberry almond granola.
- Andrea from Vibrant Wellness Journal explores why some vegetarians are going back to eating meat. Also, don’t miss the super adorable hamster photo at the end of this one. You won’t be sorry!
What food news has stuck out for you over the last week? I always expect holiday-related food news this time of year, and it’s been interesting to see the variety that’s been coming out of the network!
