Urban Gardening Gift Ideas

urban gardening giftsI am all about growing your own food and supporting local business, so when a friend shared some awesome gift ideas from Farmer D’s, I knew I had to pass them along to you guys.

Farmer D Organics is a local business here in the Atlanta area. Of course, I know that a lot of you guys aren’t from Atlanta, but I think this list of gardening gifts represents some cool gift ideas for the gardener in your life. Is there a local gardening center in your area? I bet that they carry a lot of these urban gardening gifts, too!

Backyard Gardening Box – $65

Starting a backyard garden can be daunting. What do I plant?Β  When? What supplies do I need? Farmer D’s “Backyard Gardening Box” includes everything a budding gardener needs to get started. Start with an Herbaliscious Box for planting, a “Gardening by the Moon” planting guide, a Coconut Coir Fiber Brick, Bamboo Gloves, a Worth Classic Trowel, and 2 packs of lettuce seeds.

Cedar Raised Beds – $60 and up

Cedar raised beds are great for urban gardeners… at Farmer D Organics store on Briarcliff at LaVista in Atlanta you’ll notice a wood-working shop. This is where all the Farmer D raised garden beds are hand made from FSC certified western red cedar. For urban gardeners, this is an easy way to grow vegetables, herbs and edible flowers because of the space saving, high yield design.

You can also buy a kit and do it yourself to save a little money. Each kit includes four pre-cut and drilled cedar boards and galvanized bolts and prices start at $59.95, depending on size. They are really easy to assemble and can go anywhere. A great gift for the urban gardener!

Gardening Gifts Under $20

You can also give essentials like a pruner, tool sharpener, gardening apron, lady bug attractant, canning and gift jars, recycled gym bag, to-go-ware bamboo utensil set and great books about composting and growing vegetables, all for under $20.

Gardening Gifts Under $10

There are also plenty of other gifts for the food-growing gardener in your life… pick up seed packets, bamboo gloves, organic soil mix, kneeling pads and more.
