Vegetable Garden Planner Creates a Free Custom Plan

A new interactive vegetable garden planner takes a lot of the guesswork out of garden planning. Here's how it works.

If you’re new to gardening, planning your garden can be tricky. Depending on where you live, what you’re growing, and the space you’re working with, your garden can look very different. A new interactive vegetable garden planner takes a lot of the guesswork out of garden planning. For free! Here’s how it works.

One of the most popular infographics that we’ve ever shared is this gardener’s cheat sheet. It’s a very comprehensive graphic showing you what, how, and when to plant a huge variety of vegetables. The creators of that graphic guide have released a new vegetable cheat sheet, and this one is interactive.

Gardeners in the U.S, U.K., and Australia can create a customized vegetable garden plan by answering a few simple questions. You can access the tool here.

I went in and created one for myself, so you can see how it works. It just takes a few steps.

3. Tell it where you’re planning to grow your food.

4. Give it your name, for the sheet title. Or make up a name!

I chose hot and humid and plot garden, and this is the garden plan it generated for me:

The full-sized version was much larger and easier to read. This is just an example that I sized down to fit on the page.

And here’s the companion planting guide it gave me:

Like the vegetable cheat sheet, the original version of this was much bigger and easier to read. Don’t worry!

You guys, planning a garden doesn’t get much easier than that!
