Have you heard of open source seeds? This interesting project almost feels like a delightful throwback to the days when seed-saving and seed-sharing were the norm rather than the exception among farmers.

We write a lot about genetically modified food in this space, and this article from our sister site Sustainablog really gave me pause. Not all open source seeds are genetically modified, but GMO seeds aren’t excluded from the project either. Instead, they focus on sharing and transparency.

Jeff McIntire-Strasburg at Sustainablog wrote a beautiful, thoughtful piece about open source seeds that I think is definitely worth a read. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, too!
