Have you been wanting to try cutting out the meat but felt a little daunted? No Meat March might be just the time to give it a whirl!
If you’re used to meat as the center of your meals, the idea of ditching that steak, fish, or chicken breast might seem a little bit scary. I mean, what’s left on the plate at that point, right? Maybe a salad? A baked potato? Who wants to live on just that?
Nobody.
When we talk about cutting out the meat, you’re not just removing something from your diet, but you’re rearranging that whole plate. Instead of centering a meal around a slab of animal protein, you center it around deliciously-prepared fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, nuts, and a myriad of other tasty, plant-based options.
The Girls Gone Green are hosting No Meat March, a 31 day meatless challenge. There are a few cities in Florida where they’re hosting in-person events to help educate and support you through the challenge, but you can participate from anywhere by signing up on their website.
Here at Eat Drink Better, we’re big fans of cutting out or even cutting back on the meat in our diets. It’s better for our bodies, better for animals, and better for the planet, and we want to help you, too! To help you get started, we’ve compiled some resources on eating a healthy, meat-free diet from here and from our sister site, Vibrant Wellness Journal.
While going meatless doesn’t necessarily mean eating vegan, a lot of the same principles apply, so don’t let the vegan resources below overwhelm you if you are not ready to break your cheese addiction just yet. High five for any positive dietary changes you decide to make next month (or at any point!). We just want a happier you and a healthier planet!
