The Infographics Show – Fast Food – YouTube

Did you know the first fast food chain formed in 1921? Today, there are about 160,000 fast food restaurants in America serving more than 50 million people daily and earning over 110 billion dollars a year.

In a quick two minutes plus, this YouTube video from The Infographics Show brings data to life to paint a picture of fast food in America, the companies that peddle it, and how it may affect our health.

In case you miss it in the clip, one fast food hamburger may contain meat from 100 different cows. That’s just not right. What do you think?

We hear a lot about individual responsibility in our country these days but nobody seems to want to apply that to our health habits. We can cut health care costs in this country dramatically by simply eating healthy and exercising more, but this kind of rhetoric is not appealing to most of our population. They would rather hear about less government and lower taxes. Thank you for presenting some great information about our fast food culture.

Lilly and Dean, Thanks for the comments! As I’ve learned more about the food I eat, I’ve made very different choices. Sometimes, it’s just about enlightenment. Other times, you can enlighten til the cows come home and it doesn’t make a difference. People need to know more and act differently. Hopefully we help a little bit at a time!

We, the people, are so silly to be eating like it. We all want to live forever and then just completely ignore high-quality food. What I think is funny is the way many fastfood chains present themselves – they claim to have healthy choices (salads) and people love hearing that. Nobody realized the quality of their products is horrible. Anyway, thanks for the videos, they are very useful.
