The folks at Conscious Box sent me their Earth Day box to try out, and in with the vegan bath products, Himalayan pink salt, and coupons from sustainable businesses there was a sample of raw vegan fudge from a company I’d never heard of: Cloud 9 Raw Chocolate.

The sample piece was basically a 2 bite piece of fudge, and after I took the first bite, I ran into my studio for a camera, because there was no way I could eat this candy without telling you guys about it. It was a-ma-ZING! I know, in the photo it looks like a humble piece of chocolate, but seriously. This fudge was creamy, not too sweet, and densely chocolatey.

I think part of what makes Cloud 9 Raw chocolate so awesome is that it’s hand crafted from quality ingredients. Owner Jennifer Popkey makes each piece of fudge by hand. While I didn’t see individual ingredients anywhere, she does have a page on her site dedicated to ingredients. Here’s what it has to say:

I use only raw organic chocolate beans, organic coco powder, organic cacao butter, organic coconut butter, organic coconut nectar, organic sea salt, organic vanilla, organic dates, organic dehydrated fruits, raw organic nuts and seeds.

Not an animal ingredient in sight, and but this fudge was just as rich and creamy as anything I ate in my non-vegan days. The prices are higher than what you’d pay for grocery store chocolate, but you get what you pay for, right? I am saving up so I can treat myself to the macadamia nut goji berry fudge next! Who says vegans can’t have decadent chocolate?
