I’m a fan of all things vinegar, and mustard is no exception. The folks at Etsy shared this excellent video on how to make mustard from scratch, and it’s so much fun!

How to Make Mustard from Scratch - When we think of cooking from scratch, condiments don't always spring to mind, but it's actually very simple to make your own mustard!

I love how simple this is, and I love the idea of playing with add-ins, too. Wouldn’t it be fun to whip up Sriracha or wasabi mustard? Or maybe mix in fresh rosemary or sage from the garden?

Have you guys made your own mustard? Was your recipe like this one, or did you fancy it up with add ins? Tell us about your mustard-making adventures in the comments!

How much sugar, and when does it get added? I know it’s quite a lot.
Also – how much vinegar was added for the initial soaking – was that 1 cup?
I’d love to make my own mustard – I use coarse grain mustard in so much of my cooking.

Looks like about 1/2c vinegar. They don’t mention the sugar after the beginning, so I’d do it to taste once you start blending. It’s probably not that much, since some mustard recipes I’ve seen don’t call for any sugar at all.

If you make your own, I’d love to hear your experience!
