Eating Vegan: Vegan Treats

While on holiday visiting my family in the States, my mom, with much secrecy and build-up, took me to a fully vegan bakery.  When we pulled up, I had no idea where we were going.  I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical…but wrongfully.  This place was amazing!

It’s called Vegan Treats and is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  The make goodies for their shops, as well as for other vendors on the east coast.

The shop is small and cozy, decorated fully in pink and zebra stripes, and has a large variety of personal sized treats you can buy and enjoy on the premises.  You can also get them to go, and even order birthday and wedding cakes.  On the walls are all of the numerous awards they have won from vegetarian magazines (rightfully so).

I opted for the brownie chunk “cheese”cake, and also stole tastes of the lemon “cheese”cake and some sort of peanut butter pie.  I am a huge cheesecake fan, and the “cheese”cakes were as rich and creamy as any other cheesecake I could remember.  You’d never know it was tofu!

Here is their website to check out: http://www.vegantreats.com/ (You can even buy vegan underwear.)

I realize that a large portion of our audience will never get to try Vegan Treats unless they happen to be in Bethlehem, or are willing to take a large detour on a Northeast holiday, but good vegan desserts are possible!

Here’s some inspiration to try making your own vegan treats:

About the Author

I spent the last five years earning my PhD in Engineering. I enjoy all types of science and writing, so I am trying out a new career path in science publication and communication. Recently, I have moved to Oxford, England. As an environmentally-conscious person, Oxford is a great place to live...notably there is no car required. I love to talk about vegan cooking, plant-based diets and the benefits of such, so just ask if you are interested. I do ballet for fun and love kitties.
