Grow Your Own: Vegetable Planting Planner
The other day, I ran across an amazing tool that looks like it’s going to take a lot of the guesswork out of planting and harvesting my garden: a vegetable diary planner!
With food prices on the rise, planting a vegetable garden is a great way to not only ensure that your food is safe and local but to offset those increased grocery bills with veggies you harvest in your own back yard. This handy vegetable diary planner makes it just a bit easier by laying out the best times to sow, plant, and reap your crops.
Users in the US, UK, and Australia can click through to choose a town nearby and the diary automatically finds your weather conditions. When you head back to the diary, it displays the ideal time to sow, prepare, water, and harvest all sorts of crops from beets and broccoli to peas and tomatoes. How awesome is that?
The only tricky part with the site is that I couldn’t figure out how to navigate back to the diary after setting up my location. Using a direct link worked well, though. Now that I’ve plugged in my city, it recognizes it and adjusted its settings accordingly.
Now, I just need to figure out what I’m going to plant in my spring garden and set some calendar reminders!
