Natural Beauty-Plant Based Ingredients for Beautiful Skin, Hair and Nails

These days there are all kinds of new products on the market claiming to be the new natural cure for all of your beauty issues. Before you spend your hard earned dollar on another new product promising to get rid of wrinkles or magically make the cellulite disappear from your backside, here’s the scoop on some natural ingredients that have been scientifically proven to work. Real Simple Magazine put together a list of some of the most useful and natural ingredients to look for in products in order to brighten up your skin and make your hair silky and shiny. Here are a few of them to be on the look out for.

Feverfew: Reduces Redness
This herb is best at soothing skin irritations and inflammation; it can even stop the redness before it shows up on your face! Look for nighttime moisturizers that contain feverfew to wake up looking refreshed.

Olive Oil: Saves your Skin
Olive oil has been used as moisturizer for ages and now we know it also contains skin nourishing essential fatty acids and antioxidants; it can even help to heal a sunburn! Look for body butters and moisturizers that contain olive oil.

Rose: Gentle Line Smoother
Rose oil is a potent source of antioxidant and vitamin c, making it a useful ingredient in wrinkle reducers. It has also been shown to have a calming effect, so you can relax and stop worrying about your wrinkles as you gently reduce them. Look for eye creams that contain rose oil.

Green Tea: The Over Achiever
Not only can you drink it for all its antioxidants, but Green Tea when used topically, can also help to prevent sun damage and skin cancer and help to treat acne. Look for bath oils and bath soaks containing green tea so your whole body can reap the benefits.

Coconut: Shiny Hair
Coconut oil is one of the few oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft making hair shinier and more supple over time. Look for shampoo, conditioner and leave in treatment that contain coconut oil for fast results.

Sunflower: Shields you from the Sun
Because of the high Vitamin E content, Sunflower Oil naturally shields your skin and hair from the bleaching effects of the sun. According to experts, this is done by the micronutrients absorbing the ultra violet rays so that your hair and skin won’t. Look for leave-in conditioners and hair products that contain sunflower oil for maximum sun protection.

Avocado: Overall Softener
Avocados are full of essential fatty acids, specifically, oleic acid, that can have a softening effect on you hair and skin. Look for cuticle creams and oils containing avocado for pretty nails.

Grapeseed: Plump your Skin
Grapeseed contains proanthocyanidins, which are more potent and stronger then both Vitamin E and C. Grapeseed extract preserves the skin collagen and elastin helping your skin to retain its firmness. It may even help to minimize scars and stretch marks as well. Look for lip plumpers and lip protectors that contain grapeseed oil to keep your lips young and kissable.

This sounds like a good set of products. The fact that they are natural will definitely help as well. Natural products are better for the skin of allmost all people therefore it is advisable to use these natural products.

While not as effective as coconut oil, olive oil can also be used as a natural hair conditioner. My mom used to use coconut oil on mine and my siblings’ hair when we were little and I just got back into it about a year ago. I can’t find coconut oil where I live, but olive oil (extra virgin olive oil, no “light” versions!) does the trick almost as well.

Green tea truly has so many benefits to our skin. Additional green tea benefits include:
    1. Provides skin elasticity through astringent and soothing actions

    2. Prevents skin aging by eliminating harmful oxygen which is the biggest enemy to aging skin.

    3. Contains 5-8 times more Vitamin C than lemons and tocopherol preventing the collection of melanin pigments and inhibits the formation of freckles and dark spots.

    4. Contains acne treatment ingredients vitamin A and vitamin B2. One of the best acne treatment ingredients.

    5. Contains tannins contracting pores and flavonoid with strong detergency.

I’ve also found that vitamin E is great for mild wounds or abrasions. It’s available in different forms such as a liquid or pill. Instead of incurring the cost of the liquid, I purchase the gel pills, puncture a small hole, and then apply it to the area. Also, its great for dry cuticles.

Great list of natural ingredients to look for! When it comes to getting rid of acne, I’ve heard great things about Helix Aspersa MΓΌller GlycoConjugates, which are a bunch of fancy words for the biological compound gathered from snails. It helps to repair the skin cells, reduce oil production, tame inflammation, unclog pores and moisturize your skin. I used Bioskinforte and it really did the trick to clear up my stubborn acne.
